Fractured FairytaleOnce upon a time there was a girl that had it all
With eyes like shining beacons and her body mystical
She walked along a sacred path devoted to the light
Her spoken words and actions served a purely humble plight

But hunger came and wrecked her soul, it disemboweled her
A hunger so relentless that the path became a blur
Her body craving power while her soul still struggled back
Alas, it lost the fight and now her heart was turning black

Day by day and night by night the girl was further gone
Malicious hands and viscious tongue, her morals long foregone
She now had fame and power, so why would she want more?
With record deals and perfect ha

Summertime!

Oh joy, oh bliss, old man Winter is gone,
and the Spring has passed like a storm.
Summer's now here 'tis my season of fun,
for this I have lived and was born.

We'll laugh and play, watch our cares fade away,
and at night we'll sleep out of doors.
My animal friends will come here to stay,
we'll chase shadows out on the moor.

When Summer is gone the memories sway,
and help me get through the next Fall.
When Winter comes around I won't dismay,
next Summer I'll again have a ball!

HeavenI can't believe you're gone
It just can't be true
The horrors that we heard
Why did they touch you?

I hope that you find peace
It will be so very hard
But you are in my heart
As I stand in the graveyard

You were far too young
With a future full and bright
So much more to do
And all of it your birthright

And now it's time to move on
Follow the white light
You don't have to be afraid
You will be alright

And soi.
And so it snapped
And pieces twanged and stung
My heaving, injured chest
And so I placed them in your hands
To keep them safe

Not to keep as had before
But just to hold them back together
Until I knew how to do it on my own

But then you found the bleeding pieces
Were too awkward for your hands
And so you dropped them
And my heart was smashed again.

You were my Garden of Hesperides,
Meant to guard the Apple

But though Beauties dance and sing
There is a serpent slithering

Knowing not of its existence,
And thinking myself safe,
So I was stung
And so I lost
And so I fade.

And this, the emerald pendant
Which you placed upon my pa

Butterfly Rising

She cries out into the stillness of the night:

"Why is this happening to ME?"
"Why are you hurting ME?"
"Why won't you leave ME alone?"

Her words float on the air, ascending upward,
then fall to the ground gently,as flakes of snow;
frozen tears from Heaven.

"Is anyone listening? Does anyone care?"

The heart grows cold, numb. Darkness beckons.

"Oh, just to sleep and never wake up!"

The constant pain. The ever-present need for
resolution, for closure.

But like an evil bird that refuses to return to the nest,
forsaking her own, so too relief keeps fleeing.
The noises in her head - a cacophony of confusion!

CreationI like your hands covered in paint
I like your thumbs caked with lead
I like your imagination-induced sweat
Upon your happily crinkled forehead
I like the celestial glow you keep
When you’ve created

White WalkersLight blue eyes,
Eyes of the dead.

Skin as white as the snow on the ground,
Skin of the old.

Sounds of silence,
Music of the departed.

Legs so powerful and quick,
Arms like silver swords,
Muscles as impenetrable as the wall they attack.

Invincible but to fire and Valyrian steel,
The White Walkers.

For, when I'm sensing an attraction from another,
I think he's either been rejected by all others
Or simply that he has an awful taste.

The Ballad of the NecromancerGrieving, sad, accurs'd, alone,
the Necromancer in his keep,
he sits upon his chair of bone
on mountain high, 'twixt valleys deep.

A nobleman he once had been,
young and free and much in love,
riding swift his love to see,
he bore as gift a caged dove.

To ride into the woods they went,
to love each other in the trees.
Some happy hours here they spent
'til after dark among the leaves.

But with the night the robber came,
and silver moonlight shone on red,
and they left he breathed her name
where he lay wounded, and she dead.

He seldom left his rooms at all
and in his grief read the dark tome
to see and learn the dead to call
in desperate ho

Walk in the RainWhat I love about rain...
When you walk in it,
you can cry and no one can tell.

You can let the tears fall down your face
And no one will wonder why they fall

They'll look like raindrops floating down.
That have dripped on your head.

Walking in the rain means
I can cry and feel anything I want,

And no one will ask me why.

This is the only thing that makes the constant rain worthwhile.

Mine To KeepTrees line the riverbank,
I sat, still waiting for you.
Our names are written on a tree;
I remember, you were not mine,
you were never mine to keep.

Our childhood memories
stained my mind, lingering forever,
but it was a mistake
and I have never been consoled.
Now, I could not seem to find you,
you were gone as years grew old.

You helped me conquer fears
and taught me how to love that day,
when loving seems so naive.
I remember, you were not mine,
you were never mine to keep.

We cherish this place,
our vows, nobody cares.
We sailed the river together
and promised to never let go.
Sometimes river is just river.

Memories of this riverbank

The StreetlightCalm, cooling night,
Quiet; lovely.
A Gentle breeze kisses my cheeks;
caresses my nose.
The night,
it arrives early tonight,
yet the light remains.
A smile forms as I see
the dark,
the cold,
my breath,
and the lights.
I walk along
earth’s chilled pavements,
observing the fallen life
of nature.
Feeling melancholy,
nonchalantly remaining with a smile,
I touch my fingertips
to earth’s absolute beauty,
as it gently purrs within it’s slumber
as leaves struggle with the wind,
to live.
I feel its history;
I see its past;
I feel Its pain;
see its eyes.
I feel its treasure,
its memories and age.
Touching, I feel the bite
of the bark.

glass boythe “I love you” never left my lips, for
I thought it might sound pretentious,
assuming,
desperate.

though you wouldn't have heard me,
even if those words had been said.
and even if those words had been said,
your parrot voice would have merely
returned them to me in a gentle, dumb,
answering machine welcome message.

every time we talked,
there was the fear of shattering you.

you were my glass boy, a boy who was
breakable, yet malleable to the heat
of torched pressure.

but still there was me,
foolishly following the glass boy
wherever he might go.

one day my soul slipped in your puddled irises
and when I had come to the gro

Turning BackYou told me I was wrong
Like I didn’t already know?

You pointed out my faults
The cracks widened under your scrutiny.

You excluded me from what I loved
I’m in exile and withering away.

You broke me down further in less than five minutes
Five more minutes that I’m not sane.

You think you can build me back up
I’m stuck beneath the dirt on your shoes.

You think that helped but you just dug my grave
There's no turning back so just smile and wave.

MedusaShe was the most unpleasant to look at.
One glimpse of her and you would turn to stone.
However she was not always like that.
Once so lovely she was never alone.
Punished for the Lord of Sea's actions.
Her beautiful hair was turned into serpents.
Which lead to the most horrific reactions.
It set in faster than Neptune's currents.
But Neptune had now something else to like -
the serpents which lay perched up her head.
Everyone he told, told him to take a hike,
but he wanted her so he pled and pled.
So when he went to her she turned around,
where he now stands forever on the ground.

Puzzled together
Precious scars now shine
All the more beautiful
These gilded seams, not hidden,
Blaze their testimony
Through wreck and renewal
A vessel made whole
For without these stripes of gold
There is naught but...

Shadows

Shadows playing upon the wall
Dancing with the flickering flame
That is my scintillating soul
A veiled entity that follows

Reflecting...Projecting
Distorted by yearning

A silhouette of hopeless dreams
Deepest desires, darkest fears
All are thrown into sharp relief
Melding, Melting, and taking shape
Depicting what I long to be
Or what I fear I might become

The shadows shift
And morph and change

Captivated, I sit and stare
My hidden self at once revealed
Sometimes twisted or sometimes true
Or manipulated into
Undulating alien forms

These shifting shadows' limitation
Is only my imagination
But no matter the pattern o

Coffin hides her golden slumber
Hanging from silken threads
Reticent, quiet, ever still
Yielding to vast unknowns
Steady in metamorphosis
Alchemical rebirth
Light begins to pierce the darkness
Inklings of life anew
Springing forth on gossamer wings

2nd in my acrostic expiration of the butterfly. Caterpillars create a golden chrysalis around themselves and from their shell, they emerge as butterflies. The chrysalis represents death, and rebirth.
